Jury Finds League Violated Law With Sunday Ticket Package

NFL Ordered to Pay $47 Billion for Antitrust Violations

Jury Finds League Violated Law with Sunday Ticket Package

Nine Years After Lawsuit Was Filed, Court Rules in Favor of Subscribers

A jury has ordered the National Football League (NFL) to pay more than $47 billion for antitrust violations surrounding its Sunday Ticket package, which allows viewers to watch out-of-market games.

The lawsuit, which was filed nine years ago, alleged that the NFL violated antitrust laws by preventing other companies from offering similar packages. The jury agreed, finding that the NFL's actions had harmed competition and consumers.

The lawsuit covered 24 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses in the United States who paid for the Sunday Ticket package.

The NFL has not yet commented on the verdict, but it is likely to appeal the decision. The league has argued that its Sunday Ticket package is legal and that it does not violate antitrust laws.
